Speedometer stopped working

While on a ride today, after some rain riding, wife's Sporty Speedometer stopped working. The Odometer is there, but doesn't add mileage, the speedometer pointer remains at zero. The indicator lights are working, but the turn signals no longer self cancel.

Checked the fuses under the side panel and they are all good.

Any thoughts before I have to take it to the dealer???

There is a sender in the trans and wires from it to the speedo. So there may be a fault with either the sender or speedo, a loose or damaged wire. Check the simple things first, to make sure the wiring is connected, clean and tight, and not damaged (which can cause a short to ground). If you can't find the problem quickly and the bike is under warranty, then take it to your dealer.

Yep, check the VSS, Vehicle Speed Sensor.....It works to also cancel out the turn signals after you travel a certain distance as well as figuring out your speed.

speed sensor -- just had a buddy with a fatboy have same problem, no speedo or flasher cancel, and changed speed sensor all works perfect again !!

u may be able to clean the speed sensor off and it may work, but hell just change it
