I want do a 23" front wheel & slam the front end...
just got a '06 sporty & I'm doing a 4" rigid strut rear drop with adjustable brackets to bring it down as low as it can handle.
my two questions are...
1. who makes a ready to go 23" standard spoke wheel that will pop into the factory front end
2. what's the lowest I can get the front end and how?
I also bought the 2" burly front spring kit...was gunna maybe hack a couple extra coils off too...
can I also adjust the triple trees and slide up the tubes like my old sporty?
with the increased rolling diameter of a 23" front wheel...I want to match the rear drop for a level stance, for it's profile.
I love that big front wheel look, in tight to the down tubes and think I can get that with an extreme drop up front and a big 23" wheel.
thanks for the help,
-a

Dropping the *** end already changes the rake beinging the wheel closer to the bike significantly. Dropping forks PLUS adding 2inches of wheel will give little to no travel. I do like slammed bigwheels looking bikes as well.... but done properly so they are both form and function(as much as possible). I may be wrong, I'm not in front of the bike, but it sounds like the front wheel would hit the DT.
I'm guessing this is not going to be a highway/daily rider bike? Just curious as that would help give some input. With everything (that you listed) slammed, you will have zero suspension in the front end kicking the forks into the tree and possibly the front wheel into the DT at anything over 50-60 mph I would imagine. But yeah! It would look badass! ha. Do eeeeeeit!
daily/around town bike.
I'll first attempt with my current 19" and then attempt a 21"
thereafter I'll have to measure. I'll bump the thread with info/pics.

Nice! The 21' "should" be ok. Excited to see what you do. One of the suspension gurus here may be able to help get the front end slammed and still have some (heavily suspended) travel with some tips. I'm all for cosmetic mods but be careful with high speed and bumps. cheers n good luck!
