ok so my sporty spits oil all over my bike pretty much every time i ride.....my buddies bike,.....NEVER.....he does not have any breather set up otr anything...his bike is a 98 sporty sport and mine is a 99 883(soon to be who knows what lol).......and antoher guy i spoke too never has it either....why mine everytime and them never
You say it spits oil all over the bike. Where exactly, just your right leg? Dripping oil on the ground? Oil around the jugs? Does the carb cough or backfire thru the filter? Your post would suggest oil is dripping from the frame. Need more specific data.
You say "he does not have any breather set up otr anything..." but his bike doesn't have a problem you do. Where are your rocker breather hoses routed? Back into the AC or open to blow oil all over? What AC do YOU have, not your buddy.
By sayingblow-by I take it oil is leaking from the breather. I had a SE air filter on my 96 sporty and when I rode it hard oil would gather in the breather and drip onto the motor, very noticable on the chrome oil tank. Oil would accumilate even under normal conditions, nature of the beast. I would remove the ham can and clean it and the filter monthly. One of the easiest ways to prevent oil leaks is to let the engine get to normal operating temps before hot rodding.
i had/have a blowby problem.
im currently running with a Doherty AC (OPEN ELEMENT) and have the Doherty powervents installed.
the powervents attach to the banjo bolts, and have nipples for a hose on each side.
you can run both hoses to a filter, or do what i did, and run the hoses to the front of the bike, and oil vents to the ground.
this is the only solution ive found.
i had it bad, as i run 112 miles a day, and travel 70-90 mph most of the time.
i usually get it worst when the bike is running up a mountain, rpm's drop, but throttle is open wide.
running around town does not cause a problem, its usually high speed, and engine rpm drop/open throttle.
ok so the oil is only dripping out of the bottom of the air cleaner.....i havea kuryakyn v-velocity.....its def blow by it goes on the pipes and my oil tank cover thats itt.....ntohign else is leaking oil or going anywhere else.....its so weird i dotn know why his bike doesnt do it AT ALL....but mine constantly............hey Ex11b i was looking into the doherty how is it???? a good air cleaner???? any blow-by problems now???
have the same problem here , but only when Äą rÄąde 2 up and long distances wÄąth constant hÄągh speeds .
Never happend Äąn cÄąty for now.
Have a Kuryakyn Pro R and a rejetted carb wÄąth samson pÄąpes .
KÄąnd of oÄąl comÄąng out from the bottom part of the aÄąr fÄąlter that goes on the oÄąl cover and the pÄąpes .
Never been able to fÄąnd an answer from the local dealer so Äą learned to lÄąve wÄąth Äąt .
But Äąt would be nÄące to fÄąnd a solutÄąon to thÄąs
WÄąll try to reroute the hoses to the ground and see what happens .
