Default 883/1200 gearing

I know the gear ratios are different between an 883 and a 1200. Is the difference only from the sprockets or are the internal gears different?

only the front pulley, the 1200 is taller geared... better hwy seed.

Thanks OFG, how hard is it to change the finaltransmissiongear to a 30 tooth? Can it be purchased in the US? I do alot of highway riding and would like to bring the revs down. I keep reaching for a 6th gear.

You could get the 30 tooth gear and swap it out, but I don't think the cost would justify the noticeable difference.

Your final gear ratio in 5th gear would only change from your current 3.5 toa new ratio of3.4. The RPM difference would be very, VERY slight, especially for the cost involved.
