Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Recall: Incorrect Front Tire
Harley-Davidson is recalling 614 MY 2007 Sportster (XL883, XL883L, XL883R, XL1200L, XL1200R, XL50) and Dyna (FXD, FXDB, FXDC, FXDL) model motorcycles built with an incorrect front tire. This incorrect tire could cause performance issues, which could result in a crash. Dealers will inspect the front tire and replace it if necessary. The recall is expected to begin on or about March 5, 2007.
Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Recall: Steering Failure
Harley-Davidson is recalling 18,758 MY 2007 XL1200C, XL1200L, XL1200R, XL50, XL883, XL883C, XL883L, and XL883R motorcycles. As a result of a greater body thickness than used in previous model years, the voltage regulator may contact the front fender under certain conditions. In some cases this contact may allow the front fender to catch on the top side of the regulator body which could impede the operator's ability to steer the vehicle. This could result in a crash which could cause injury or death to the rider. Dealers will install an intermediate mounting bracket that will relocate the voltage regulator to a position which provides more clearance from the front fender. Harley-Davidson has not yet provided an owner notification schedule.
I received the recall notice re: the fender - nothing re: the tire yet - but thanks for the tip, I'll ask about it when i bring the bike in for spring service and the fender (soon)
Took mine in on Tuesday evening and got it back on Wednesday. Relocated the voltage regulator, checked the tire, did the 1000 mile service and washed and waxed it for me, wasn't expecting that last part.
