I'm sorry - I'm not sure I understand your problem. The key should be rotated all the way back to the off position (closest to you) and can then be pulled straight out.
If you're talking about the fork lock key, just turn your handlebars slightly while you turn the key back. I find mine gets stuck unless I do that.
I hope that does it for you.. You shouldn't really have another spot to put a key. From my understanding all 14s are keyless.
Cheers
Nope all 2014's are not keyless. I have a 2014 iron 883 and it has a key. In fact I relocated mine with the DK customs kits.
WOW.. Didn't know that.. All of them here are anyway.. Thanks for the heads up..

Oh dang, I recall my first ride on my sportster.. After turning the engine off, the key wouldn't get out of the ignition.. You should have seen my face I was scared, pissed and confused.. I didn't want to break the key or the ignition.. Thank God HD had a stand in an event going on at the same time.. I rode there, dragged the salesman who sold it to me, bitching that the key is broken and its a new bike. He said its normal when the bike is new. You just need to wiggle the key and it will get out.. He did it, then I did it at least three times in front of him to make sure I can and then let him leave.. HAHAHA..
So to the OP, wiggle the key up and down a little bit while pulling it out.. WIGGLE WIGGLE WIGGLE!! Good Luck
