I don't quite understand why you want to do twice the work. The difference between your C & her L is basically distancebetween the seat & the ground NOT seat to foot controls. She should be tall enough to ride the C a bit to know if they will work for her.
She should be tall enough to reach the ground, but she isnt, thats why she has the low. Its not that big of a job to move forward controls and if necessary to move them back. How ever if I boiught the controls and put them on her bike and she couldnt use them then im out 400 big ones.
My wife also has a 883L, due to her short legs. She does well with the mid controls, but wanted some stretching room when on longer rides. What we did was mounted an engine guard with foot pegs attached, that way she sould stretch out when she wanted to, but still had the mid controls for starts, stops, and around town.
Something is missing here. Put the front wheel of your Custom between your legs like a salesman would do and let your wife set on the bike and see if they're close enough. Hello !!

I guess that was what I was trying to say but did't convey it as well as you did. [:-]
You can get a set of forward controls at your HD dealer. Chrome ones will go for about 400, or you can go polished for about half the price. And looks wise, there isnt a whole lot of difference. I am about to do some mods to my bike. Forward controls, lower shocks and drag bars.
