We "spotted" you this time. Get a manual.
Is it not the spirit of these forums to help a brother out??

Or maybe I justdon't get it...

Go figure...

Default Thanks!

Markdt...thanks man!! I was able to show my husband how it is done! He is putting Ape Hangars on his bike and had to replace cables. He couldn't find his manual and so here I am with your help, showing him how a real lady does it! LMAO! His dad was real impressed and is now enlisting me for help with future mods.

Why get a manual when you are on a forum? Isn't that the point?

No, if you're going to work on your own bike, having the tools to do the work is necessary, and the Service Manual is a necessary tool, just like screw drivers, wrenches, etc.

Just because you're an admitted, CHEAP, LAZY, FREELOADER, doesn't mean I or many other people here are going to do your research for you.

Wow, what the hell use is a forum then, patting our own backs? That's B.S. I've never seen such unfriendly posts on any other forum. If you feel that way about it, why don't you ignore these posts and let the folks who actually enjoy helping other people out do their thing? Man screw this, just joined today and I think I'll unjoin now.

Oh, and Mark, thank you very much. I had the same question and found my way here via Google. It's folks like you who make the internet the most powerful tool their is, wrenches and manuals aside.

I know this thread is old as the hills, but it sums up my thoughts exactly when it comes to some people being a dick. Especially towards new members. I see it to this day here and from some of the same people.
I'm not new to forums and I've even moderated a few over the years. In fact, I'm not new to this forum. I was a member here under a different name when some of you were still sh!++!ng green but couldn't remember my login or even what email I used back then.
Bottom line is some people need to get a life. I know you think you're someone important behind your keyboard but your not. Certainly no one is forcing you to respond to questions.

Now having been a grease monkey in another life and having turned wrenches on Harleys in the past, I do everything on my bike/cars myself but sometimes I like to refresh my fading memory and use Google which usually lands me here or other forums.
That being said, I've gone back to lurking here for the most part. I have a social life outside of forums and I'm a member of another one geared towards my bike specifically that's also much friendlier in general it seems and another for us Bonneville nuts.
There's an overall bad attitude here among some "old timers" towards new members in need that I don't remember. I guess because a lot of us were new back then. I recognize many of you from that era and now rejoining as a n00b, I've experienced this same treatment I wouldn't have otherwise experienced.
Certainly keeps me from ever being a paying member here.

One gets tired of those types of responses when i DO post looking for help/ideas. Ive either been met with the same type of responses or none at all and I'm far from being a cheap, lazy freeloader. I've always given more than I've taken in places like this.
Respond to me with cheap, lazy freeloader and I'll rip you up one side and down the other so I figure it's best to just avoid the situation entirely.
