I just installed clamp-on long angled highway pegs to the down tubes (right where they start to bend) on my 2001 sportster 883. How much will this affect the cornering? Is it safe?

How much corning are you going to be doing on a highway? If your cruising down the highway, it won't affect much. I don't think you would want to run around town with your feet up on those pegs. But then again if they are mounted in the same area as stock forward controls, you should be alright.

If you want to be on the safe side, I'd mount them level with your controls. This way you maintain the same amount of lean you've always had before scraping as long as they aren't sticking out further.
I would think you would scrape those a lot sooner as they are mounted low on the frame. Could you mount them just above the bottom clip for your clutch cable. They look pretty good though.
