I think my manual said 2.8qt for engine but can't remember for sure. Cost roughly $60 for a service manual from the dealer that is well worth it. I recommend getting that before servicing.

2.5. And screw the book when it says check it on jiffy stand. If you fill it to full on the side it will pour out the cap if you check it standing up. It will also puke it out the breathers till it gets down to the right level. Then you will be starting a thread about wanting to know why oil is poiring from the air cleaner.

2.5, check standing up. So go change it, then get the manual. No need to wait to change the oil till you get it when you can just ask here......

There is no need to rush into this, so wait until the manual arrives, or you can download a users manual from H-D's website, go to the 'Owners' tab and register. Don't just pour a fixed quantity of oil in, fill to the levels quoted.

I changed mine the other day and put a quart through the inspection hole in primary, I never took clutch cover off as one of the cover bolt threads are a bit iffy, I put 2.5 litres in for engine oil on jiffy stand and that is a tad over half way on dipstick.

When I change the oil I first add 2 quarts and then run the engine to circulate the oil. Then I fill the oil tank until it's at the "low" portion of the dipstick. I run the bike until the oil is heated and then fill until it's halfway between the "low" and "high". About 2.8 quarts total.

Don't forget to pre-fill the oil filter with a couple of ounces of oil. A dab around the gasket too. Finger tight plus 1/4 turn.
