The Dark SideFor those members running "Car Tires" on their scoots. This is for their discussion only and not a place for "non dark siders" to mouth off about their negative opinions of this idea!
While I can see both sides of this topic, for me it comes down to the numbers. To each his/her own but this breaks it down for the techie's. Keep the rubber side down people
They work and many riders fit the on their bikes but it’s a personal decision for sure. I have followed friends on the tail of the dragon before and the contact patch is not an issue. I tried but I can’t properly fit one on my 07 flhtc.
Putting a car tire on little tiny bike like that makes no sense what so ever.
While I understand that this is an old video (it made the rounds on this forum years ago) maybe next time he will test ape hangers on a crotch rocket.....
To each his own. Personally by my research I never would do this.
I watch a lot of YouTube. Kevin Baxter with Pro Twin Performance has a great video with a guy from Dunlop that discusses this topic. I suggest you check that out. Very good information.
Also another YouTuber called Shadetree Surgeon was riding with a group from Florida to Barber Motorsports in Alabama. One of the guys was on a 87 Electra Glide with a car tire on the rear. He picked up a roofing nail and when the air came out those soft side walls put him on the ground in a split second. All on video.

Reading is fundamental!
Yes they don't want their feelings hurt but Cosmic pointing out that rider falling due to a nail puncture was something I hadn't heard before and it might actually save someone's life. Good info Cosmic!

So you just said that you have never heard of a accident due to a flat tire?
Really?
My buds run the run flats. ON the 08 and newer touring the chices are limited.. the Vredestein Taxi tire was the only choice for me, ordered one and found out my rear fender is a little off center and I didn't screw with it..
I am going to go the trike route for touring soon anyway so a M/C tire works good enough for me,
