THUNDERMAX: Missing power?
So i saw DTT and TMax. They both have their advantages and disadvantages, but cycle solutions won me over with their cost. Took pipe to get bungs welded in and installed yesterday.
Automatic smooth improvement, thanks to Jake for the map, throttle response was night and day, and so was the loss of HP/TQ from dydno tune (not a bad thing), which was expected, but still ran tough but smoother. There is a noticeable hesitation or dip when off cruise to WOT as listed above. you would have to know what your feeling to notice, thats how faint it is, but i can tell. Especially after riding it tuned like it was for so long. But much smoother and and easier to maneuver in small area streets without the jerkiness of the low RPM of my original tune.
I have about 90 miles on it, trying to cycle on/off as i did with my FP3 before my build so it can learn for the auto tune. Was just curious to gaining a bit more power out of it. I did not dyno with TMax, but its nowhere near my original tune numbers, and you can feel the difference. Jake really got me a good base map, so im not sure if i want to go tinkering around with it. This thread was interesting to me though, maybe look at timing. However each bike is different and im just not sure where my timing should be. I can tell TMax is not a rich as my original tune by hillside, so im sure AFR would need adjusted, but im going to leave that to the auto tune feature, Thats what its there for......any suggestion on if timing would help with the dip and lower power from 3500-5000? Seems that cam really turned on with original tune at about 2100, now with TMax, seems to have a power band at around 2500-4000 then dies....when my original tune was pulling well past that.
I do carry my original ECM, just in case with NB O2 still in pipe, you never know, and im not yanking pipe off to swap O2s......i like the smoothness of the TMax and will run it for a while, especially up here in NYC are until i leave (cant come fast enough). Most likely put my ECM back in for NC mountains riding....
Thanks in advance for your input....
Tony
