Default I'm Back on 3 Wheels

Do to a lot of personal situations including turning the ripe old age of 80, and of course Covid, I have not been riding much for some time and have not participated in this forum, Looking at recent threads, it seems The Florida Crew hasn't been too busy of late anyway.

Well I just thought maybe some of the crew may be interesed in what I have done in my attempt to reinvigorate my riding here on the East cosat side of Central Florida. Through a dealer (On Wings of Gold) in Brandon Florida, I had a TRIO (Tilting Motor Works) front end installed on my '19 SGS. I was also wondering if any OTHER crew members know about, have installed, or are considered installing a TRIO on there bike?

For those who are not familiar, a Trio converted bike, although now haveing three wheels, is not really a Trike since it rides like a two wheel bike at speeds over 7mph, It counter steers, leans, and can even fall over like a two wheeler. However, with a built-in hydraulic system called "Tiltlock", when ativated and when speed drops below 7 MPH the bike will become vertical and there is no need to put feet down. Riding under 7 MPH is more 'Trike like' with steering done using the HBs to steer like a car. Learning to stop, start and ride a Trio converted bike is a daunting task and require a lot of parking lot practice as well as trust and confidence in the Tiltlock system. This is not easy or intuitive, but once mastered, makes riding for an old fart like me with week legs and loss of upper bodey strength possible again.

BTW, would love to see The Florida Crew Rally be planned and held again.

Good for you, keep riding till you can't. Seen your pics, that's a head turner. Had not seen that conversion before.

Always glad to hear from a Mature rider that has figured out or found a way to stay in the wind. Congratulations Frank. I've never heard of the "TRIO" system. Thanks for making us aware of it. Many years ago, riding along US Hwy 1 during Bikeweek, Daytona I was next to a Honda Goldwing that had what I can only describe as "retractable training wheels". Heavy traffic as usual. Approaching a traffic light, as the Wing slowed a set of small wheels lowered from the rear of the bike and supported it while stopped. When the light changed and the Wing sped up, they retracted and the rider was back on 2-wheels. I don't know what it was...and have never seen it again but creative people are out there.

Interesting set up. I've never seen one before.
I've been considering options for the not so distant future when I may need something like that.
I had pretty much made up my mind that I would go with the 'wheels up landing gear' but based on what I know, I would have to get a bagger in order to accommodate it and I really would prefer not to do that.
I need to look into this contraption.

glad to hear from you Frank. I also haven't been riding as much, Covid changed a lot things.

Good thing we didn't plan a rally for this weekend with another hurricane on its way
