Thinking about getting a house built in Lake Weir. I have grown to liek Fla a lot and want to always have a home in this state, so I think this is a good area, you have gods waiting room (Villiages) close by so medical has to be good and the area looks liek a good riding area. It is a little more America than where I live and work right now, even though I like my area I would like it better up there. Any local knowledge of the area, pitfalls? benefits?, I plan to move my mom down and have her live the rest of her life there as it is too cold in NJ for her anymore, plus all her friends are over in gods waiting room every winter anyway. Will have a acre atleast and 3-4 car detached garage as my bunker, built from poured reinforced concrete with turrets on top, reloading room up stairs and hydraulic bike lift in one of the bays. Feedback on the area appreciated, only been up that way during ocala rally and one visit to family friends.
How far is the nearest airport with the amount of traveling that you do?
Funny, Kerri and I had this type of talk the other night, as much as she loves Weston, she has had enough. I was telling her about Lake Placid and she was all for going up and checking it out.
We looked at that area not too long ago. We have friends that live in Tavares that we visit quite often. It would be nice to live close to them. Not sure if you saw this article about the area. Live Where You Ride.
Yes that is the article that ot me thinking about it. Thx

when we were in Leesburg a couple months back, we ate breakfast at Alphie's, which is down the road from this place. such a great concept. the guys we talked to love the place, and live the video shows, it is a very biker friendly place. imagine, being surrounded by people who wake up in the morning, looking for someone to take a cruise with...
MB, i think you need to include a place for the crew... we would probably be up every weekend. LOLOLOL

I live in Ocala and ride that area quite regularly. Some great riding, wonderful people, very minimal traffic. If you are looking for a MUCH slower pace than where you live now, this would certainly fill the bill. Very biker friendly all around here.
Someone mentioned the proximity to an airport, given your travel schedule that would be a concern.
Let me know when you can come up this way and I can hook up with you and give you the buck fifty tour!!
Gator Joes is on Lake Wier. I hav been up there and around lake weir prolly 10 or 15 times. That lake is the shizit. They got a beach area right at gator joes. The best thing is that the lake is spring fed so its crystal clear and cool year around. I believe it is 1/2 hour north of leesburg. plenty of good riding up through ocala forest. my grandma lives in leesburg. last time i was there i saw 3 or 4 large homes with 5 or 10 acres right on the south side of lake wier. nice setups. also a bar called crazy cats down the road from lake wier. nice place. This is a pic of the only major traffic light in the area. You can get your hoopty repaired here also.
Been thinkin' about a place like that for some time. Would love a bike/biker friendly area to live it. Cooler up there, so that's the only drawback to me. Only 15degrees, though.

That's what they make electric jackets and gloves (pants too?) for.
