I'm not embarrassed, SH$T happens, that's why we have insurance and they're called accidents. I pulled into a gas station with my buddy who I went for a ride with he needed gas.
I'm stopped and proceed to turn right, a car came from my left going the same way, happened quick basically we were both going to the same place and my bike hit his car on the rear passenger side. We decided not to wait for hours for the cops, we would take care of the damage between us. But this morning when I went to look at the bike the damage was worse than I thought. I thought it would just need a new crash bar and problem solved. Well when the crash bar was hit and warped it messed up the frame up under the forks. The tab from the crash bar where the bolt goes sits behind the neck of the frame and it was twisted out so the frame is damaged. I didn't want to bang in place and have someone weld it or anything because it's the frame, you just never know. The dealer said they would have to strip the bike down and send the frame back to HD for repair and then put the whole bike back together. At least 20 Hours of labor @ $80/Hour, and the cost of the frame swap/repair. Adjuster for the motorcycles don't work on weekends so Monday they will be contacting me so I won't know much of anything else for now. They were adamant about me NOT riding the bike for now. I was just going to take off the crash bar and ride, but they have specifically told me to stay off of it and I can understand, you just don't know if rough roads or engine vibration could damage the frame further, not worth the risk to me or the bike. The dealer said roughly looking at the $5K-$6K ballpark for repairs when it's all said and done with labor. The service guy lives in my neighborhood, he's the one I was out riding with last night so he saw the damage I did not ride the bike out to the dealer.
So we'll see what happens, glad no one was hurt, hopefully they fix the bike and not declare it a total loss, if they do I have no clue what I will buy, lol.
Dude, I am just glad you are ok. Be safe and before you know it, we will be out riding again.
I'm out on this one now. Had a minor fender bender late last night/early this morning. No one hurt or anything, but my crash bar is warped and there was damage where it attaches to the frame under the handlebars. Ins doesn't want me riding until it's fixed just in case because of the frame.
Waiting now to see what they're gonna do with it, dealer said I need a new frame, don't know yet if Progressive is going to fix it or total it.
all I can say is that blows about your scoot, and glad your not hurt...

Sorry to hear that Gabe.... glad no one was hurt. If they total it, you'll now have to go up to an Ultra.
They are not going to total an 2010 Road King for 6k in damages. They are going to fix that bike, new frame and 6 months with no scoot. That really sucks. My buddy waited 14 months on a frame replacement on an 07 Ultra. He t-boned a car and it was almost 12k to fix that bike but fix it they did. He finally went out and bought a $1500 honda just to have something to ride while he waited. The dealer that did the work "misplaced" a lot of his parts while the frame was gone to Harley and played the back-order game trying to get it back together. I hope you have better luck than he did.
Gabe, it's good to here that it's the bike and not you that's hospitalized. Sorry though to here that you're likely going to have to deal with months of waiting for the bike to get repaired.
OK...I'm not gonna make this one...need a new rear tire...and I'm not paying Rottmeyer 300+ dollars for a tire...Petersons was way more reasonable...but they are slammed can't do it till Mon-Tue.....so till I get new tread the bike is sitting...yall ride safe and I'll catch ya on the next ride...
Speaking of tires. Whoever designed the valve setup on the spoked wheels on the Road King Classic should have had their *** kicked. I just checked the pressures in my tires for the first time ever in 14 months. (OK, for that I should have my *** kicked.) Took me nearly 45 minutes (mostly rear) trying to get the gauge lined up to get an accurate reading, addng air, losing air while trying to get another reading... and so on. What a pain in the ***!
Additionally, another thing to add about the NON service I got at my 20K from Rossmeyer. Not only is that on the list for them to do, I specifically requested it. They were 30 FRONT / 32 REAR and SHOULD be 36/40.
