A couple of us have been tossing the idea around of getting a website for the Florida Crew. I wanted to explain the benefits of this and see what everyone else thinks of it. We are in the process of getting together an online store for t-shirts, mugs, etc. We have this site to communicate and a couple others such as the FLcrew map and calendar, facebook etc. It would be a good way to have all these things on one site and organized so we can all find it and newbies can find us easier. Face it we are not easy to find on the forum. Having a direct link from a website would make things easier. News of importaint events such as the Biketoberfest party coming up and fallen brothers can be someplace that is instantly accessed instead of having to hunt through twenty pages of posts to get what you need. We would have our own domain name (flcrew.com) and unlimited space for pictures or whatever. Also unlimited e-mail addresses from that domain for people who want one. Then your email from here will be separate from your other ones. We already have a couple members interested in helping maintain the site and the cost is very cheap. It is about $40 a year with all this included. I think once the store is in place it will cover this cost without any further out of pocket costs from anyone. We would have to initially use $40 from the paypal account to get it going then I think we can work it out it wont cost us anything else. If we spend $40 for the first year and it doesnt work out for whatever reason we can just cancel it. I think we still get to keep the domain name too. Lets vote on it and see. I think it is a great idea. If we like the idea we can have it in place within a few days.
Without jeopordizing what we have here with HDF? Let's not kick a gift horse in the mouth here. I'm just sayin... HDF has been good enough to give us our own general population... I'm sure there are other's envious and raising cane about it behind the lines every now then. If we "do this and it doesn't work out", will we still have the "Florida Crew" here at HDF to come back to. OR.. as others that have broke off from HDF to try there own ventures, will we be banished from and given the "@*$&" every time someone attmpts to type in FlCrew.com from here on out?
I'm just sayin.. has all this been thought out from all angles? Terry, and the HDF Crew, has been very good to the Florida Crew as a whole. I'd hate to see that go the crapper as I've seen it happen in the past. Just my two pennies worth of thought on it is all...
Greg, it wouldnt affect anything that we have here in any way. It is just more information. We will still have the forum here. I dont think we would ever consider moving. Just a place to have more info for us to use. No different than having a facebook page. Just better.

I for one like the idea and had thought of suggesting it to you folks for awhile. There are tons of (free) programs available for us to utilize to create a site where everyone can interact with one another, post news/announcements, etc, etc.
I agree with keeping hdf, but think we can use a site dedicated to the crew, for the crew and by the crew.
So if the facebook page is free why dont we do that. I mean between the facebook and our HDF...isn't that enough?
Trish, a Facebook page has very limited capabilities. Facebook for instance, doesn't have facilities to handle the FL Crew "Store" that Dale mentioned for members to purchase Crew merchandise, nor does it have an effective way to handle a Calendar of Events, other than linking to an external website which is what Dale is talking about creating.

Hey Trish,
As for facebook, some of us don't have a facebook account. Mostly because of job restrictions. The website would be for additional information that anyone with access to the WWW can find.
