Snow Shoveling
Hopefully you all heard about the winter storm that whacked Atlanta. It sure did. We got a solid 6 inches of snow last night and then some freezing rain on top of it (in our neck of the woods).
Atlanta is closed until further notice. The idiots that ventured out there had to walk home after getting stuck or when they had to climb their way back to the road after going off the embankment. Either way, they had some walking to do. The roads are impassable. I spent the day shoveling my driveway and spreading 2 big bags of Ice Melt. My back was too sore to finish my back deck, but I'll get it finished tomorrow. Patti had come home with two snow shovels, two snow brushes for the cars, and three bags of SnowMelt (a man-made combo of chemicals and salt) that she found at Ace Hardware last week. We had snow fall for Christmas eve, but that was only a couple of inches. Our driveway can be tricky if there is any sort of ice on it.
A couple of quads went up and down the street in front of my house for a while today, and a couple of 4x4s went by too. Not sure where they thought they were going as most businesses and stores were closed and all schools were closed too. The airport is closed.
I'll bet you that it will be Wednesday or Thursday before there is any sort of normal here. We have some cold temps for the next few days.
I haven't been able to ride since before Christmas so I am really missing it.

I don't get it, up here where I've lived growing up this was the snow belt (and salted roads made us the rust belt too). We used to get a foot and felt lucky. Drifts would range up to 6 to 10 feet in some areas. Now the snow line seems to be Detroit and south of there.
I guess cause it doesn't snow a lot there you don't buy snow blowers? With a drive like yours my walk behind, hand grip warmer, electric start, 14 h.p. "Driftbuster" would have been handy.

Damn Paul, it's definitely worth the trade ya had goin here back home in Fl and the size of the home and job ya got up there. It's only a few feet of snow a year. Suck it up!!

Your walk-behind snow blower would have been perfect. Our street is still a mess, and the city of Atlanta (in general) is still awful with slick spots and closed ramps. The airport JUST started flying some flights again. I guess the northeast is getting hit now with snow.
Moving from Florida to the Atlanta area (last year) I didn't figure on having so many down-days without a motorcycle ride. I miss it bunches.
I guess when I do get out there again, I will be loving it all the more!
