Do any of you with baggers know of an alternative to the HD helmet headset cabling, and yet still be able to take advantage of the radio, besides blasting the external speakers? I haven't been able to take advantage of that "perk" with my bike yet, because the speakers with the cable HD gave me don't fit my helmet right. Thus I either get a bigger helmet or find an alternative to the HD cable setup. But being out of work like I am right now I have no cash to go out and buy a new helmet.
Life was so much simpler when I had my FatBob and this wasn't an issue! Thanks.
What type of helmet do you have? What type of problem are you having with getting the cables to work with your helmet?
I've got a Scorpion EXO-900 Modular helmet being used as a 3/4 open face right now.
The speakers won't sit right in the helmet. Even with the helmet ear padding adjusted for the speakers to sit flush against the inside of the helmet, the speakers still stick out into the helmet to the point that I can't get the helmet on.
Was hoping to figure out a way to get a smaller set of speakers to work.
Likely I'm gonna just have to get a larger helmet eventually.
The radio isn't going to sound very good at all with that set up anyhow. There are a couple alternatives. First you can get an adapter for your plug on your RGU to play your music into earbuds. You can find that HERE.
Or you can get a headset that you can use with a half helmet or with no helmet at all. This won't have stellar sound either but is much better than the Harley helmet set that came with your bike. Put that one in your wife's helmet. That is what I did. Find that one HERE.
If you are looking for something else check through the IMC site from the second link. I hope this helps.

Thanks Dale. This look like what I was looking for, at least as a short-term six until I can get another helmet. The adapter was something I was considering trying to find but didn't know where to look.
And, the wife STILL hasn't gotten on the bike with me, yet - so her setup isn't a big issue to fix right now.
I had to cut down the Styrofoam padding until the speakers fit flush.
J&M Audio also makes a slim line of speakers that might work out a little better for you.
You can make your own adapter for a lot less. Check out this post https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...ml#post6453937 if you have any questions on wiring I can help. The .Audio 480 headset you see there is very comfortable and sounds great.
Thanks!
THAT is SWEET!
The speakers look thinner than the stock HD helmet speakers, and the integrated plug thru the side of the helmet is convenient.
Give me a week or so to get my income tax filed and back and I'll be ording this setup.
Appreciate the feedback. Bill.
