Ditto on the route back through Orlando. Coming home from Bike week I foolishly left my guide and jumped on i-4 for a quick run home, no exaggeration, we did 6 miles in 2 hrs. Never, never, never again!
Oh DAMN!!! Good to know. I figured jumping on I-4 would be better for my hangover. Sounds like it will make things much worse.
We usually take I-4 from St. Pete to Daytona. We have taken I-75 to 40 and East on 40. We leave St. Pete early in the morning and leave Daytona late in the evening. We usually don’t have a problem with traffic. Unless some idiot makes a big mistake on I-4.
A friend took us one a scenic route one year and it took us about 5 hours to get to Daytona. Never again.

I was thinking the scenic route to get up there, since I have never been anywhere up in that area before, and a quicker route home.

5 hours from St Pete to Daytona doesn't sound unreasonable to me. Of course I enjoy riding so maybe it is just me.
