Like Geoff I'd like to have build in speakers, Bluetooth, phone capability etc. Modulars have a reputation of being noisier than a non modular helmet so if anyone has experience with the modulars they can share it would be appreciated.
I got stuck in a traffic jam in Atlanta during a heat wave wearing a full face helmet. I like my modular way better. I haven't noticed if it was noisier or not.

I’ll admit this thread, with the exception of a few indirect jabs, has been largely mature and respectful. My experience is that these discussions generally devolve.

My home state of NJ mandates a helmet so I wear one. In the winter months when out for longer rides I wear a Shoei GT-Air. I spend a lot of time in Florida which doesn’t require a helmet and I ride without. I ride a SG which provides some protection from the bugs - I’ve been nailed a few times and can relate to many of the comments made, including the big-*** goop bomb on the sunglasses. My choice of windshield height is a factor I consider based on planned rides.

For me there is no comparison in the riding experience, especially when riding locally around town. My situational awareness is improved and I love and appreciate the ability to completely experience my surroundings. Sights, sounds, smells... And the ability to interact with those around me, whether in vehicles or on the street (smiles, nods, waves... even the occasional few words at a stoplight).

There is nothing “cool” about it that factors into the decision. For me it’s all about the experience and unlike a seatbelt (which I do wear), a helmet gets in between me and that experience. Not sure how else to describe it.

Some people realize that a "riding experience" only means anything while actually riding. And they also realize that life after receiving a head injury and surviving, which is probably most, is far different.
Even the "riding experience' may depend of location, reason for riding, etc..

No right, or wrong, just different opinions.

Must have seen a dozen doo-ragged., flip-flop wearing, grey-bearded, pot bellied Harley riders today on my 40 mile cruise around SW Florida this afternoon. Makes me cringe.

They just did a study and found helmets could also be the cause of an accident
for someone on a motorcycle. I just made that up but I still think it's possible.
