Most of the 'Wing owners that I know ride non-stop. The BMW guys usually ride more than the 'wings and the worst the weather the better. Sounds like you've got a couple dweebs in your group.

I love my 1st and present Harley and would never buy a GW, but for long distance touring they must have a reputation for dependability. Because...last year, I listed 3 very nicely modded (several years old) GWs on eBay. All three met reserve and of the 3, two of the guys that bought them flew in to the Atlanta airport (I live in N. GA), had cash in hand (12k and 13.5k) and rode them back home. One guy lived in Washington state and the other guy lived in Nebraska. They bought the bikes site unseen and trusted them to get them back home. Both made it back without incident and loved their bikes. My buddy that had one of them wanted to me ride his, and said..."No, that's ok." I've heard that once one ride one that you'll never ride anything else. Look up "Yellow Wolf" on youtube and watch him wear out the tail of the dragon.

HD owners add what to their ride?

1. GPS
2. Cell phone adapters
3. IPOD adapters
4. Some add heated grips
5. A more comfortable seat than stock
6. Windscreens of varying heights
7. More speakers than most theaters have(cuz ya can't hear it over the pipes)
8. Some form of cruise control if it didn't come with it
9. More lights than a christmas tree

Wings pretty much come with all the above. BMW's have adjustable windscreen and you can adjust the seat height or yeah heated hand grips. Apples to oranges you will probably find more miles on these than HD's.

So I don't know who's the posers and who are the real bikers? Just askin.
lol i'll finish what you started saying.

A LOT of HD touring owners want a gold wing, they just don't want a honda.

like stacker said, how many hd bikes do you see with cup holders and ipods and cell phone holders and intercoms and gps, and other fuddy duddy electronics.

don't get me wrong i dig the radio on my dad's street glide (and that's all he has on there) but i always thought riding was about getting away from our uber connected lives.

all that being said, it's really funny this thread popped up tonight.

just today i noticed that whenever im out riding and a goldwing pack (and they always seem to ride in groups of 4 or more) silently creep up behind me i find myself thinking "oh **** i'm in trouble now" not for any reason other than they just look so friggin dorky

but i gotta give it to the wingers. they ride...A LOT...and i'm cool with that.

I can sympathize with the OP's statements. I avoid it by not hanging out (riding) with non-HD guys. I just don't want to hear it (the leaking oil/breaking down crap). I like all motorcycles, but you just get sick of it after a while.

I haven't seen one, but maybe my wife would ride in that. (She sure won't get on my '05 UC.

Stubby, that doesn't look much different than the electric wheelchair doohickies you see senior citizens rolling to the shopping mall in.

Helmet hangers. Used when the tour pak is to full to store the helmets in.

There use to be a guy in Las Vegas NV that made a top like that. Looks dangerous to me. Looks like it would fly if the wind got under it. Aslo looke like a two wheeled golf cart.
