They're warmer, they provide real protection and they don't look stupid. You can even put them on just as easily as chaps (over your boots) in a about a minute. You can even wear them over shorts in the summer, open the leg vents and be cooler than jeans.

Actually think those look more gay than chaps ...

One thing that all of you "Young" guys need to take in to account, leather pants are great, but when you waistline changes more often than the weather, the flexibility of assless ahaps are great. 30 years ago I may have looked good in leather pants but these days I will spare you all the sight. Chaps keep me warm and thats all that matters.

They can be let out too..... Not that I'd know anything about that. I have a vest that I added a set of belly chains to years back. So now instead of buying longer chains I just bought a new vest.

I wear 'em in cold and rain and don't care what anybody thinks. Like some others said, I've had favorable female comments.

Been wearin chaps since the 70's as most guys back then wore them. Just stand outside a gay bar and count the leather pants going in and tell me then whats gay or not. The reason most of older riders wear chaps is because you can roll them up into a small roll and bungee them to the bike. They stayed on your bike as mine do now. That way if you are out on an extended ride or come out of the bar late you zip em on and go. Even on a nice day if you're travelin long distance chaps keep your jeans from flapping and give protection if you happen to go down. Yes they offer protection and do keep you warm, contrary to what some of these "experts" on here claim. The subject of chaps has only come up in the past 5-10 years.....Hmmm I wonder why???? Yep the same folks who have to go in and get their costume on to ride. In my opinion leather pants are way to thin to be of any help. I would rather zip on a pair of chaps in the parking lot then try to get into a pair of pants at 2 am.......If you wanna wear leather pants fine, just don't let me catch you lookin at my *** in chaps....Just my opinion.

I don't have a pair, I do see their purpose, weather it be for blocking the cold wind or used for a fashion statement. ( personally don't care for the latter )
But what I will not do is " JUST STAND OUTSIDE A GAY BAR AND COUNT THE LEATHER PANTS GOING IN ".

Sorry, but unless they're on a hot chick, there ain't no damn reason for assless chaps on a dude.

Just my 2 cents.
