Hmmm.....maybe Sonny was an altar boy before he got on a bike? But you're right, we can talk this over in PM's if you guys want to, but this is an H.A./OMG thread.
No disrespect to Sonny or anybody else, but it's just not my cup of tea. I get the attitude and strict rules on colors and territory (reminds me of feudal days....a soldier walks into your kingdom flying someone else's flag, they can't expect to be welcomed), but I just don't have the desire to get involved in anything other than hanging out with people who get it. I've been watching/reading whatever I can (aside from books thick enough to take a few days to read since I've already got plenty of those on my plate) on the various MC's out there and it's pretty interesting stuff, especially listening to the guys' take of how things started and where they're going.
If you're looking for studies that support my opinion, they do exist. DOJ and various State agencies have lots of data available. Some is public information and much of it is not. Some is available on the web and other information would require a FOIA request. I'm not going to waste my time and do your research for you only to post things that you will just say are government propaganda.
I think you're referring to the FBI Gang Threat Assessment Report. I have previously stated that the FBI has labeled a number of groups as "gangs" that I don't necessarily agree with. It seems like the criteria the FBI used was too broad and if even a few members of a specific group were arrested or convicted of criminal activity then the FBI considered the entire group a gang.
The difference between the Juggalos and the Bandidos, for instance, is that practically entire chapters of Bandidos have been arrested over the years whereas the Juggalos have only had a few members arrested.
WTF..
Regardless of your feelin's, admire Sonny or dispise Sonny, give gredit where it's due. He sat in the top chair of a group of violent men for over 50 years. Most hard corp dictators can't stay in power for that length of time. He faced threats from inside, from the police, and from other clubs. He left when he felt it was time, his crew gave him loyality and Sonny gave it his best....WTF ????
So did Gaddafi, then there is Osama Bin Laden, Idi Amin, etc. Ok only I think Gaddafi was the only one to survived 50 years in power but you get the idea. Without loyal supporters none of these people would have been able to do what they did.
Should history hold up these people for admiration and respect their actions and accomplishments?
The ironic thing is biker "culture" is the result of Hollywood and not biker gangs. 99.9%+ of motorcyclists have no exposure to gangs. There are millions of motorcycles on the road and only a very, very, very small percentage belong to a biker gangs, much, much, much less than the often quoted 1%. I think some people just like the Hollywood version of bad *** bikers and want to emulate it. Makes for entertaining documentaries, movies and books.

Theres a big difference between arrested - charged - convicted. Feds will pick up everyone but often times everyone will walk. That just proves harassment not guilt

Uh, they are officially called clubs, not gangs, except by LEOs looking for federal funding to pad their coffers with....
