Rub
Honestly the guys your talking about are just as big a bunch of clowns as the weekend warriors play acting at it with all the dress up and peacock strutting . Does kinda show how little most really know about what or who an actual biker is , everybody is all about the stereotypes either trying to be one or bashing them .
holly **** Zues.... who pissed in your cornflakes lately?
you seem to have the bigger hard-on towards "minimum wage, gun totiting, criminal bikers" than anyone i know ...
including some really stand-up people of ALL income level that i consider "bikers"
does it suck that bad not being accepted?

Just making a point that a RUB is a degrogatory term, usually used out of hate.
RUBs that get made fun of are your tippical 50+ that finally got rid of kids/child support, has disposable income and in full-on midlife crisis goes out and buys a brand new FLHABC-FU. It doean't stop there... he(or she) now needs accptable gear to go with it.
Since they didn't buy the bike to actually ride it, they don't need rain gear or FF helmet. Chaps, fingerless gloves and a beanie skid lid will do ... all that crap is offered at the friendly "stealer" and can be rolled into a payment.
Few MoCo t-shirts and you got an "instant biker".
Usually people that do that **** don't buy a bike because they all of a sudden discovered riding or coming back to it after many years. They do it to BELONG to something and to be ACCEPTED into harley "comraderie" horseshit.
I find that laughable.
I don't think anyone hates RUBs though...most people recognise that they surve a purpouse. They saved h-d from going under, they supply the market with low-mile late model bikes and I like using take-off parts for my old bikes. Viva la RUB !!!
The only thing is... no matter how much they whine or stomp their feet, they will not be accpted as "bikers" till they actually ride for a while and learn a thing or two about this sport and lifestyle.
They are no more bikers than I am a soldier just because I wear BDU pants (most comfartable pants to ride in) and carry a piece.

yea that's funny. viva la RUB.
The funny thing is when I was a young Harley rider. I would have basically considered everyone on this forum a RUB. And while there weren't PCs to the point we have them now and certainly no forums. I would have considered dudes sitting around talking about riding on a computer the ultimate in RUB.
I am willing to bet like it or not many bikers who are not internet keen and who ride daily would consider us all RUBs

Here is the deal within every group you will find people who are desperate to label others within the group that they feel are easy targets and can be used to differentiate themselves from the "commoners".
Same with Bikers. some thing I am a real biker and it is my duty to point that out. It is my duty to disparage all types of bikers differently then me.
And eventually someone looks at them and say tsk tsk tsk this guy is not a biker.
Do you REALLY have to engage in the social scene to be a real biker?
Is a real biker someone that drives a beat up bike or even a nice bike but rarely leave his home town area? Sure he may go on a run once twice a yr. Ok
But what if that biker has no ability whatsoever to work on his own bike? Or just plain doesn't want to. Most guys I know would classify that as an instant nope not a biker.
But then again I don't consider myself a biker because as I have said before there are other things more important to me that I would rather label myself as. I am not saying more important than my bike as my family/friends is only thing that beats the bike.
I am not here to label others. Not my job. I am secure in what and who I am and don't need to ensure that people consider me a biker. what does it get me? Nothing.
There is absolutely no benefit whatsoever to someone looking at you and saying wow that is a biker.
What drives me nuts is the labeling and the folks who think well he bought a Harley and rides it just 10-15 times a yr or he trailers it to events.
Did anyone ever say the WHO was not a real rock band because they destroyed their gear? No 1 because it was cool, 2 it is their gear and they can do whatever they please.
So if folks want to continue to feel like they need to differentiate between who is what in the HD world. I do hope you can find something better to do with your time. Because you are certainly lacking in character and may have low self esteem.
