Bastards almost got me this morning on my way in to work. Came out from the bushes and were just hanging out, having their am coffee. Locked up the rear (to my surprise) and things got interesting for a few seconds. Rode away yelling at them and laughing. I don't hunt but my in-laws do and I told those bastards (the deer not the in-laws) to mark their days because it's almost open season! For all you hunters, kill one for me.
Yup, crops are coming off, weather took a nasty change for the worst this morning and the deer are running everywhere. Time to park the bike and grap the bow.
I had one run in front of me this AM too. Fortunately it was far enough ahead that I didn't have to panic, and she kept scooting until she made the other side. I'll be grabbing my gun in a couple weeks and looking for her daddy.
the rut is kicking off in many parts of the country. they are thinking about sex and will run out in front of you for sure. the bucks roam for miles and don't even take time to eat. if a doe runs across in front of you...better pay real close attention, as there will probably be a buck close behind with his nose to the ground. and you can rest assured that he is not looking for any DEER CROSSING signs !!
Guys that don't hunt don't have a clue, and do stupid things. I've seen bike riders run 70 mph an hour before dawn where highways cross creeks, drainage's and other natural deer funnels, in places where you see dead deer on the edge of the road.
I scratch my head and wonder if stupid people have guardian angels or something.....
Yeah well anyways I ride to and from work at the prime time for deer moving so I'm on high alert now. I have them standing on the side of the roads which is a little un-nerving to say the least. Most of the time the pipes scare the hell out of them long before I get there but at night they become confused and unpredictable. My wife and I were in the car just this morning and a buck crossed the road but decided to run down the middle of the road to get away. I'm in full lock up on the brakes and can hear his rear hoofs kicking the bumper. My old lady is just about freaking out since she killed one last year and totaled the front end. Afterwards I just continue on my way like nothing happend but she was a basket case.
