I need to adjust one of my lowers, it's too far over to one side. I don't know how to get inside that top cover to loosen the bolts. I see the two nuts on the inside of the pocket but how do you remove that top cover to gain access to the bolt heads??
Take a 1/4" drive ratchet with a 6" extension and a swivel. I think the nuts inside the glove box are 1/2" could be 7/16. Just take the nuts off and the top end of the lower (the cap) will come off in your hands, just loosen them if you want to adjust the lower's position. There is one clamp on the bottom that holds the lower to the engine guard. Loosen that one bolt and you can move the lower assembly position on the engine guard.

Thanks Dave, just what I needed. I only need to loosen and re-position the lower to match up the other side. I am having problems getting the highway pegs to match up since I can't position that side the same as the other due to the lower being further out vs the other one. Thanks
While you are in there... torque the slide bolt. There is one bolt that squeezes a set of nylon ratchet washers. If they are tight the lover vents will stay in place. Do this only if you have issues with your lower vents closing while riding.
You will see what I mean while in the glove box.
Heard you are feeling better Ben... that's good news.

Thanks for the tip, yes my vents do close on their own while riding, this will help. I am doing a lot better thanks for asking. I am able to ride again but probably not up for a full day. It feels ssssssooooo good to be back riding.
How's Carol doing? I hope she diidn't get the flu. I was in a meeting this past week and one of my co-workers had the flu and was in the meetings too. He was even running a fever, said he was strong enough to be there.......HEY DUMMY....GO HOME!!!
Hey Dave,
Fixed my offset lower. You were right on about the sizing, 7/16 on the two top nuts and 1/2 on the bottom ha ha. The cover didn't fit back as nice as it was originally but ended up matching the fit of the other one. When I see you again maybe you can take a look at it and let me know if it can be adjusted to fit better. Thanks for your help.
