I think it has to do with how the turn signals are mounted on SG.
According to HD - Will fit a SG with stock turn signal location. Will not fit with the SG aux light brackets installed - these are the fork mounted brackets for passing lamps as opposed to the towel bar on other touring bikes.
What is the purpose of these deflectors, let me re-phrase that, what do they help or improve on? What do you notice with these installed?
They drastically reduce the amount of air coming in from under the batwing and up from around the tank. This can have a big affect on reducing buffeting if it's a problem. They also increase the overall area of calm air around the riding position.
The only downside I've experienced is they reduce so much airflow that I feel more heat rising from the engine. This is a positive in the winter, but a negative during the summer. Mine are only used during the cool or cold months.
