Default Heated Hand Grip Experience

How reliable are heated hand grips? Don`t want to spend the money and have them fail a couple months down the road.

Never had any problems with with the ones on my 2012 Limited the 2 and a half years I had it. Hasn't been cold enough to use them on the '14 yet, but I'm not expecting any problems.

Spend the money on heated gear. Gloves and a jacket liner (which will keep your core warm) are a helluva lot more effective than just keeping the inner part of your hand warm. I used to have heated grips, and they'd last about 3-4 years, then the elements would wear out----take longer to heat up. I've been riding year round with heated gear for the past 3 years.....best $$ I've spent on comfort for winter riding. FWIW.

I have a 13 Limited with factory heated grips, not an issue with them, work great. I also have heated gloves and jacket liner. I find at times I use both the heated grips and gloves to keep my hands at just that perfect toasting temperature.

My 2010 grips still going strong. Agree that proper gear trumps heated grips, everytime. And proper gear is not cheap gear either. You get what u pay for with proven gear. ( including good gloves)

My experience is that they last for a couple of years and then they fail. We have been through two sets on my old bike and two sets on my wife's bike. Basically given up on them now. We have heated jacket liners and gloves if we need them. Use the liners pretty often, hardly ever use the gloves. We did use the grips more often when they worked.

I don't have stock heated grips, I went with Avons that had Heat Demons and they have worked well for two seasons. I will say that one of my next purchases will be heated gear. The grips are good at keeping the palm of the hand warm, but the outside of the hand, in the wind, still gets cold when I'm leaving the house for work in the morning and the temps are in the high 30's low 40's.

Another one for heated gear can't believe I waited so long to get some it's great. Most of the time I don't go past halfway on the setting and I'm still toasty.
