I did same thing until I started looking into it few years ago on this forum. Unfortunately until this last post I was doing the reset wrong. I'm not sure if other years or have same problem or if it isolated to the 08. Worked perfect today after using this technique to reset. Thanks for the help guys.

I really don't think it matters how you shut the motor off, the end result is the same either way. My manual says to use the kill switch but I think that's just a recommendation based on safety.

It makes no difference which switch you turn your engine off with.
What does make a difference is when you turn it off.
When you pull up to your stop and are ready to shut the engine off, let it idle down for 10-12 seconds before you chop the ignition or hit the kill switch. This allows sufficient time for the ECM (electronic control module or brain, as some call it) to do a little "housekeeping" before you shut it off. In essence, the ECM remembers the speed at which the engine was idling when it was last shut off and will try to duplicate that speed the next time it is started. The engine needs to drop to normal idle of 950-1050 rpm before being turned off.
