I see an oil leak someplace under my bike coming from "I DONT KNOW where".
I Pat the underneath dry with a paper towel before I go out and when I return there is oil blown all over underneath again.
I cant tell if it's motor oil or primary oil .....Both get dirty pretty quick even after changing.
My Tranny is full and clean.
Is there a RED Primary oil that would help me determine what seal is really leaking?
Clean the underside your bike as best as you can. Then go for a short slow ride - just long enough to get the bike up to operating temp. Make sure you go slow (under 15 mph) so the oil can't blow back. Get an inspection mirror. You should be able to determine the source of the leak.
if you swap fluids- pull the clutch apart so that the disks are as dry as possible- soak in new fluid overnight or a couple of days.
this reduces likelihood of mixing incompatible fluids- which you don't want when controlling friction is what makes the bike move.
finding seeps- oil always flows lowest point...and when on the jiffy that'll be the primary cover.
clean the area- spray with 99˘ store foot powder.
the seep will wash away the powder from the source.
common sources:
Tranny end cover- the bolts should be at 25 ft lbs- there is a trick to snugging these- see pic below
Oil pan bolts

Mike what do you think of that red bel Ray fluid? I am just trying to figure which seal is letting go. In a way I guess it doesn't matter which seal is leaking because if it was a seal in the primary that oil would mix with the motor oil right?
Also no matter which seal in the inner it is I'm not good enough to take on that job anyway.
I know it's not the oil filter or oil cooler or adaptor plate.
I know it's not those tranny end cap lower bolts that loosen up.
It seems to come someplace by the inner primary back toward where I can't see and drip down when riding and because of the highway speed I never see a static drip all I get to see is a wet belly (oil pan) area.
It's not the plug and nothing static leaks. That's why I'm thinking its a seal.
