My vented lowers on my 12 SG make a rattling noise when down shifting. Tightened everything but the rattle is still there? Anybody have the same problem or a fix. Thanks for any input.
I have big feet and I will get my foot to kick it often. We'll I broke a piece of plastic inside it. You will have to look at the schematics and order the replacement part. It's the part that the baffle bolts to. I actually thought that it bolted directly to the whole assembly. If you look inside the pocket with a flashlight you will see a crack around the area. Easy fix.
There's a slot at the top of the vent..the top and bottom of the movable vent are connected by an itty bitty piece of plastic that's about 1/8" wide. This part breaks cuz it is just a narrow cheap hunk of plastic. Mine have broken several times and so have many others. You can tell when it breaks cuz the vent rattles.
You'll have to get a new one and that one will eventually break as well. We have tried to epoxy them together but they do not hold because the connecting part is too narrow.
a poorly designed detail indeed, they seem to walk them selfs closed
and I am always pushing them open.
In Daytona I used dental floss to tie them open

Yeah, nice indeed. I'm sure there are thousands of em out there that are broke. Ya just don't know it because you can't see that little piece unless you really get down there and make an up close inspection. The rattle is a dead giveaway though.
I replaced the little plastic notch with a bolt but after a while bolt ate the plastic door cut out part the whole thing is pretty damn cheap. I think they use recycled plastic from Happy Meal plastic toys.
