Found a deal on an 09 Streetglide, may switch from my 07 Roadglide. Questions is are the rear shocks and inner and outer primaries the same? I would like to trade my progressive 700 series shock over to the 09 if it will fit. And swap out either the chrome or wrinkle black primaries depending on which color scheme I would go with.
Also any issues on the 09's? Thanks
Swingarm has changed but Shocks will fit. better frame/swing arm, Brembo brakes, better gearing, 6 gallon tank.inner and outer primary Are the same, 96 inch motor
Thanks for the info guys. Dang I was hoping it was a 103. But I was thinking of doing a stage 4 when I get it. Have they solved the issues with the 25mm wheel bearings and the IDS that Ive heard of in the early years?
Just check the top and bottom mountings to make sure they are the same diameter, but I do believe that they are, shouldn't be a problem putting on the Progressives... There have been several to many threads here dealing with that, but the heck with that, very easy to check.
shocks interchange from shovelhead FLT to current touring models
primary cases same 07 and 09
my 09 is great.
the 103 has more torque- which is nice- but the milder 96 may be a winner for longevity...it may be a better match for the rest of the drivetrain in terms of strength
The 09 will have the upgraded IDS. I have no problem keeping up with (or pulling away from) 2014 twin cooled HO 103 or twin cooled 110 CVO on my old stage 1 96 with 92k on it, on the Dragon or Pikes Peak this last summer, just downshift and pin it!
