Yesterday I replaced my derby cover with the skull edition one went I removed my old cover I was expecting oil leaking out or something. There was no visible oil anywhere inside just a trace on the cover and the gasket. Is this normal or am I low on oil or something. This is an 07 with about 600 miles on a new oil change. the bike was on a lift so it was level could that be the reason.
I replaced the derby cover on my bike a while back. I was told by my mechanic that if the bike is tilted to the right, or on a lift and straight, that I would not see a bunch of fluid in there and that this is normal. If you would have tried to do it with the bike on the stand, you would have had some fluid come out.
You should be fine, but just so it doesn't bug you, check your fluid level before your next ride.
My 07 service manual requires 38 oz to replace the primary oil, more if you remove the entire casing. Like gunrunner said, it should be barely visable.
