I think they are all too loud. I haven't had a quiet one yet.

I just picked up an HJC RPHA Max modular helmet and am really impressed with it. It's made up from a composite of carbon fiber, fiberglass and aramid epoxies making it strong and light weight without looking like a mushroom head.

For a modular it's very quiet and solid. It has a pinlock shield system eliminating any fogging. The outer shield snaps in flush with the shell which helps reduce any wind noise. When I snapped it shut I could not hear my bike's stereo once over 60 mph so I'll need to get some speakers installed for music and intercom. Still have to figure that out.

Very comfortable without any headaches or pressure points and the inner liner is cool and removable for cleaning. The RPHA is HJC's top of the line model and has the look and feel of a one piece full face helmet. Very aerodynamic and functional. First full face in over 20 years and first ever modular for me. All of the controls and latches are easily used with one hand and with gloves on. Revzilla carries this model for just over $400.

I tried Schuberth and Shoie but they both felt heavier and big giving me that bobble head look. The HJC was a perfect fit for me. Definitely happy with this purchase!

I have the VEGA Summit 3 Bluetooth ready modular helmet and am very happy with it. It's MSRP is $179 but you can get it from Jafrum for $99.95 with free shipping. http://www.jafrum.com/Motorcycle-Hel...-Helmet-Solids

I love my Nolans (102 and 104) and I find them to be quieter than HJC and HBC. The main thing is they fit my head. They also have a steel locking mechanism which according to this web site didn't fail when being tested.

You need to try on any helmet to make sure it fits and doesn't have any weird pressure points. This means walk around with it on for at least 20 minutes. Make sure you have your normal glasses and any other under helmet apparel with you and wearing it also.

I tried the IS-Max and it fits my head, but the sun shield is unusable with glasses. It simply wouldn't deploy, just hit the top of my glasses. I'm wondering if the RPHA is designed better.

I wear prescription glasses and have no problem with the RPHA. Used the sun shield on the ride back home....worked great.
