Default Idle cable, two electrical prongs?

Hey all,

I'm replacing the idle cable and noticed these two electrical prongs by the front of the tank, plugged into a housing into my idle cable. I understand these are for cruise control, which I don't have (2006 model). My new idle cable doesn't have this, what should I do with the connectors? Or did they order me the wrong idle cable? Thanks

2nd question- how do I run these cables? Do I have to remove the tank? I sure hope not!

If you don't have cruise, it doesn't matter that they ordered you a cable without the roll off switch. Just tuck the connectors up and out of the way. Technically, you can loosen the front tank bolts and remove the rear of the tank and hold it off the frame with a small 2x4 and you can run the cables. I've had success doing it that way before. Just be sure to disconnect fuel line prior to trying to hold the tank up with wood.

What dawg said.

I asked the same exact question when I change mine (2006 model), I just couldn't understand why my non cruise bike had these connectors on the cable.

I did mine without removing the tank, and I taped the ends of the connectors and zip tied them to the main wire running done the backbone.

Thanks all, I ended up going this route and using a 2x4. I left the connectors hanging glad I didn't need them.

Steelerdude, I see you're from Pittsburgh area, Johnstown. I live right outside the city limits myself, you're about 60-90 minutes out from the city, right?
