As part of the "deal" on my brand new Road King, the dealer will be fitting the Screamin Eagle 2-1-2 exhaust mufflers.
Do I also need to upgrade my air filter or do anything to the Engine Management System?
Thanks for any info.
SE mufflers are little different than stock so ya shouldn't have to do any thing else. The '14 up air cleaner is plenty good enough on a stock motor. Of course a proper tune will help even a stock motor.
There have been dozens of "Screaming Eagle" pipes over the years- a part number would help.
I use modified SE Fatshots on 1 of my bikes- these are made by supertrapp, I use supertrapps on some of my other bikes.
if you like you can leave as is- but if you use a high flow air cleaner* and add some kind of tuning compensation you will gain about 7 to 10 horsepower.
You don;t have to use the dealer for this- but if money is no object- let them.
I use the Ness Big Sucker air cleaner and nightrider.com Xieds- about $300 total if you look around.
( forum member dkcustom may be the one to talk to, or on ebay easternpc ( also a member))

* I live in the desert- I strongly suggest an oiled filter such as a K&N or similar.
These have a cloth filter media which is wetted with oil and will catch fine particles of dust yet still flow air very well.
I use these in all my vehicles- and each has proven it's worth. Performance is good, intake sensors are always clean and when washing the filter the amount of held dirt that comes off is unbelievable.
