My 14" LA Choppers twin Peaks Apes are great for long distance comfort but take your hands from behind the fairing to in-the-wind. A few of my friends have the clear hand guards from HD and rave about the protection that they provide during the winter months. Some research on this forum lead me to JD Customs but I couldn't find any bagger owners who purchased them. For $58 bucks, I figured it was worth a shot. The order went in today and I will update with pics after they arrive. Riding in Alabama year round is pretty easy but my hands are the only things that really feel the cold. I may only use them for a couple months out of the year but the price made the purchase a no-brainer.
i have some of the same ones i bought off ebay. mine are very high quality. i had to flatten them out a lot. they didnt provide much protection like they were. even flattened out i didnt think they provided enough wind protection to deal with the look.

Damn. I was hoping to hear something positive on these. The Dyna guys seem to like them but it may be a style thing. As I mentioned, the guys with the clear HD one love them but I am not a fan of the clear plastic look so I tried to find something different. Oh well, I'll give 'em a shot.

hey ya already ordered them so why not. they do look better on the dynas but not on my sg. but the biggest draw back is having to readjust your mirrors putting them on and taking them off

Did my Outlawz Apes cause of my wrist. I didn't take into consideration that now my hands are in the wind with my new apes. Those guards look good. What size did you order?
Report your findings. Would like to see some pictures of them mounted. If the guards don't work I may go with heated grips.

I went with the Large. According to the folks at JD, those are the only ones that will fit touring bikes. I'll dig this thread back up and post pics after I get them mounted and tested.

I'd rather have gloves..those guards looks decent on a dirt bike.. Do u complain when u take viagra and have a hard on for 4 hours.. Nooo.. So wats a little wind.. Loljkjk
Have you thought about heated gloves, glove liners, or heated grips? I swear by heated glove liners. They slide in any one of your favorite pair of gloves, and are well under 100 bucks. Just a thought.
