YIKES!!! was my first thought. When I waslooking for my '07 it seamed like every bike I set on the standwas
balancing precariously on a 20" bicycle stand. Iguess I'll have to get used to it...that or switch it out with something that
"rigidly" plants itself on the ground. Thatreally surprised me!
..I've always made it a point to look down to insure that the square stop has gone up into the groove as I'm bringing bike weight over on it...keeps it from rolling off the stand.
Later
I know that's the way they are...but I still think she's going to buckle everytime I put it down. Guess it's a good thing that I don't trust it cause I double check each time to make sure.
Always wondered why the term "jiffystand". Never has been anything but a "kickstand" to me. What's up with that?
'Cause many moons ago the bikes had a stand that lifted the rear wheel off the ground. It latched to the tail end of the rear fender when not in use. It took the rider lifting and pulling to the rear to get the bike on this stand. Operating the kick stand was a lot quicker; it could be done in a jiffy.
i was told that the play in the jiffy stand has a purpose. if you park facing uphill it locks in the front, and if you park facing downhill it locks in the rear. this is a function of how they were designed and they all do it.
