Neither place had an actual load tester, it was a digital pc of c$@p. Both places said the battery is good! I put it on and the bike it pooped and farted and I let off the start button. Punched it again. Fired up and ran great. Killed it and started it several times. No problems. What to do, spend 125 on a new battery or what?
Quit playing around and quit asking questions that have been asked & answered! GET A NEW BATTERY! No need to pay $125... a Deka ETX30L can be had on Amazon for $90...free shipping. If you didn't get the battery load tested, they only tested the surface charge. Asking more questions ain't gonna solve your problem...but buying a new battery should take care if it! Always a chance it could be something else, of course, but you've gotten to the point where it's time to get this out of the equation!
$100 bucks every couple of years or so is OK with me as long as I don't get stranded.
I agree with this.
In addition to a dead battery leaving you stranded somewhere, I've read threads on this forum that a weak battery can also cause your stator to burn out
I look at a new battery as just another maintenance expense
My original battery lasted 4 years. It's replacement lasted 2 years. Same symptoms as you on both of them. The first one left me stranded when it crapped out completely. I didn't wait for the second one to let me down. I replaced it 3 days ago. $100 bucks every couple of years or so is OK with me as long as I don't get stranded.
...After installing the new battery, push start button immediately after switching ignition on...my Power Commander V has never liked any sort of delay between these two steps.

Screw the high-priced HD battery. Here's your battery:
$100 delivered. Do it and start riding again. And keep the tender on it when not riding.
I agree. I got a Big Crank AGM battery from BatteryMart.com for my old bike a few years ago for about $89. Delivery included. What they don't tell you is it's a Deka battery rebranded.

What does it do if you delay? Any other issues with the PCV?

It seems as though it starts more sluggish.
PC-V on my ride for 5 years, no issues.
OP you may also need a starter clutch drive. http://www.ebay.com/itm/201113767215
I am thinking I may as well.
That is one of weak sides of the "stock" HD starter.
