Fans are the very first accessory I put on my bikes. LeNale, Love Jugs, and Wards fans. I've used all three, and they all work very well, but I prefer the low profile look of the Wards fans. My bike actually cools down sitting in traffic.
I too, really liked the low profile look of the Wards fans, but the facts that the Love Jugs run when submerged under water (rains like a MF here in FL.) They really do lower your cylinder head temperature a 100 degrees, and they come prewired and plug directly into your aux plug were the selling factors for me.
It was a water cooled bike that taught me never to let a motorcycle engine idle for a long period of time. Got stuck in traffic with my water cooled VTX 1800 idling in 70 degree weather. Under the delusion that only air cooled bikes could overheat I sat there for 20 minutes until I saw the temp gauge move to the red and heard a bubbling sound. I shut it down an waited for the next 20 minutes until traffic started again. Just doesn't seem like idling for long periods of time is good for any motorcycle engine.
Here are a couple of things to get it to run cooler.
Does it still have a catalytic converter?
Is the programming stock? If so, these fuel injected bikes are known to run lean from the factory which means more heat. Richen the mixture and it will run better and cooler.
Also, certain aftermarket cams can reduce engine temperature due to exhaust valve timing. An example of this is the Andrews EV13 in my Evolution.
