My local dealerships are hit and miss. I am in a military area (Norfolk, VA) too. You would think that owning a dealership in a major military area, you would offer a discount to those of us that have donned the uniform. Bayside Harley in Portsmouth gives the 10% military discount every day. Their sister store Outer Banks Harley doesn't. Southside Harley in Virginia Beach does NOT give a discount but their staff is the best. If it is something that I have to have right now, I goto Bayside. If I can wait for it to ship, Kutter HD it is. Rode out to Colonial HD in Petersburg, VA once. Great store and they do give the discount too.
Buying my bike 1 year ago, I got a price from Rocky Mount Harley. Offered the sale to my local dealerships at that price and the only one that would match it was Southside. I even brought in a printout of the shopping cart from Kutter filled with about 3k worth of parts and they matched that too. Great people at Southside.
So for listing purposes:
Bayside HD (Portsmouth, VA) - 10% military discount anytime
Southside HD (Virginia Beach, VA) - No discount except for HOG Wednesday once or twice a month
OBX Harley (Harbinger, NC) - No discounts
Colonial HD (Petersburg, VA) - 10% military discount anytime
Gator HD in Leesburg FL always give veterans 15% discount and free bike storage during our deployments. This is in addition to giving great customer service at all levels!!
If I ever make it up to Leesburg I will stop in and buy a shirt and thank them for their support of the troops.
Now that being said, there is enough markup on everything HD that they could give 20% and still make a hefty profit.
When I worked at a Ford dealership, the gross margin was close to 50% and I was discounting my best wholesale customers 34% off list and still making money... You can bet HD and their dealers are making a good amount of money on parts.
Bought some parts at Classic HD in Leesport Pa and paid with my USAA debit card. Parts guy asked if I was a vet and showed him my retired id and they gave me 10% off.
I'm retired Army and Longhorn HD in Grand Prairie, Texas gives me 10% off parts and merchandise. I have dealt with staff in parts, service, and sales and they are all fantastic!
Merry Christmas to everyone. I was at my dealership and found out they give 10% discount on parts and motor clothes to veterans. They led me to believe it was a Harley Davidson USA benefit but I hadn't heard it before. Wondered if anyone else has found this to be true at other dealerships. My Air Force days may pay off for me. Let me know your experiences.

My dealer gives veteran discounts on parts and motorclothes...if you ask for it. They don't advertise it though.
