I have the HD full face modular helmet that I bought a year or so ago. Think I paid about $250 for it and it's still one that they sell. I mainly wear it on really cold days or long trips. Used it on a 1000 mile iron butt run as well as a 5500 mile 2 week road trip I made earlier this year. Never had any issues with it. Comfortable and not too hot. I did buy the darker sun shield for it which was an improvement over the lighter one that it came with.
My only minor complaint is wind noise. It's not the best for that but I guess that what the higher priced helmets are for.
Hope that helps
I bought the same helmet and also but the tinted visor on it. I like it a lot! Very comfortable and the modular natures is very convenient. I don't mind the wind noise since I usually have earplugs in anyway.
Plus points, for me: Comfortable, well ventilated, kinda cool looking.
Minus points, for me: Built in sun screen could go lower, can't use the face shield with the sun visor, sun visor isn't big enough to be terribly effective, chin bar removes it doesn't flip up.
Would I buy one again? Maybe. I had great hopes for the air flow through it based on the reviews. I was quite disappointed in this area. It's still one of the best motorcycle helmets I've had with regards to ventilation, but I've never felt the air rushing through it like reviewers report.
I have the HD modular Part Number 98226-11VM. Don't like it much. It rattles, lots of wind noise, chin guard is too close for comfortable use of a microphone, slip down inner sun visor smacks the bridge of my nose.
I purchased the Vega 1/2 with J&M 787 built in from J&M. If I were looking for a full face I'd go the same route IF the Nolan or Schuberth J&M sells had good reviews. Interestingly, J&M also has the HJC IS-MAX modular but I think that's the same as the HD branded modular I have already.
Being into convenience, having the headset and mic already installed and everything ready to go appeals to me.
check out the video for the lazer monaco carbon. i just picked one up from revzilla, haven't had a chance to ride but about 10 miles with it. my initial impressions are so far favorable.
Have had the HJC and thought it a little noisey and not the best fit. Now have the Shoei MultiTech (precursor to the current Neotech) and like it a lot. Pretty quite and lighter than most. It also fit me better than the majority of others I tried. If your current Shoei fits well the Neotech probably will too. It's expensive but not the most expensive.
I just pulled the trigger on a Full Face Bell Start Carbon through Revzilla and really like it. That said, and its not what your looking for but hit up Rezvilla.com and check out some of the videos and customer reviews on the modular helmets. FWIW.
