Anyone have anything they use other than pvc pipe shaved down? Tried that method and had a failure so doing it right this time. I need 41mm driver. Or if you have an extra laying around and you got a new bike with larger forks and wanna sell your old let me know.
I've always had good luck with PVC pipe ... but ... here's an alternative ... stop by a muffler shop ( with your seal ) and have him cut you a length of tail pipe and then "swedge" one end to the desired diameter ... It works quite well ... Good Luck
Curious as to why the PVC pipe didn't work. Did you use it with a mallet or as a slide?
By the time i had it shaved down to where it would fit in the lower, it was flimsy and somewhat sharp on the end. Tried with mallet and as a slide but never looked to even to me and it leaked.
I was trying to avoid buying a new one bc it may be the only time i ever use it with the size changing in new touring bikes.
Use the old seals to drive the new seals in, turn the old seal upside down against the new seal and tap the seal in with the pvc pipe. Then remove the old seal.
