Default road king windshield problem

I've got a 2015 road king that gives me the standard buffeting problem somewhere around 65mph and up. The real issue though is that I'm 5'6 and the edge of the stock shield is directly in the middle of my line of sight. I have to sit uncomfortable straight up or bend down to have an unobstructed view.

Anyone have experience with shields higher and lower than your sight line? My eyes tend to get watery with a half helmet and no shield, would a shorter shield deflect enough air to fix that or should I go taller? Just not sure what direction to go.

You can simply cut that one down, done it many times. PM me if you want instructions how to do it. I just trimmed a spare RK shield I had down to mount on my FatBoy hardware. You can buy shorter new ones but trimming it is pretty easy actually if you have a plan.

consider that the larger the "hole" you try to push through the air...the deeper the pressure differential in the cockpit.

uncontrolled air rushes to fill the low pressure zone from the sides, bottom, top....

you may just be happier with a shorter windscreen, as above, easy to cut down.

Just found this company, haven't bought one yet but I absolutely will. Looks very interesting.

Man! I have the same problem with a stock windshield.
Even worse I get nauseous from it being right in my line of sight .
I have to go shorter but the good news is that some have a recurve or mailbox slot that can redirect the air up and over for us.
Like Mike said that negative air creates its own problems.

Is there no way of adjusting the height of the whole shield? My Glide had a similar shield to an RK when new and I simply adjusted it. I'm a similar height.

I'm your height and I have a Clearview shield with the recurve. It's the stock RK shield height. Very clean air for me. The only air that bothers me in the cooler months is the air coming up from underneath, although I like it in the warmer months. LRS also has a recurve.

Yup, I had the same issue. Cutting it down was real easy. There are lots of instructions on "how To" >> google, forum, you tube.

I have a couple different seats with varying seat heights. Barely used take offs are a good deal for extra shields to match them up as well as cooler weather.

I am also vertically challenged at 5' 6& 9/16" I wanted to keep the stock shield intact for now so I got a tinted 14" from harley w/o hardware and switched w/fact hardware. No buffetting with or without a helmet.

A lot of my wind was coming over the top of the gas tank behind the windshield getting in my eyes and also known for "Beard Lift". Installing the HD Front Fork Baffle eliminated that. The HD Side Wind Deflectors helped push the wind out. These stay on all the time.
Good thing about riding in cold weather, with a bare hand you can find where the wind is coming from. For example, some wind comes around the Nacelle thru the gap to the windshield. But that's OK with me, I think it helps with low pressure turbulence similar to the "Mailbox" design on the fronts of newer bikes.
Call Jim at Long Ride Shields and He will explain and give suggestions, whether you buy something from them or not. Great people to deal with.
I also have a Reckless Fairing I ride with sometimes, I bought a LRS Elite Recurve from them for it that made a world of difference.
Good luck, and ride safe!
