looking to install power duals on my 13 limited , already have v and h slip ons , just not wanting to have 1200 to 1500 wrapped up in the project , tuners are so expensive , wanting a little more torque , more low end , and a cooler running bike , most power duals are around 500 with the tuners running 500 to 700 , guess a download might be doable just dont know much about them , any thoughts?
if you have a tuner- then YOU need to set it up- OR hire someone to do it...and adjust or re-do overtime.
So balance whether you are willing to delve into that complexity.
some riders find this a really useful approach.
Some riders mess it up.
or HD can do a download- but that may not be as adjustable as your part selection requires..and you'll need set up and maybe dyno tuning.
There are other methods- I use nightrider.com xieds.
plug and play, they work.
$130 or so depending on which version you choose.
pipes: many riders are simply buying stock headers with the catalytic converter removed - about $150- ebay
bang for buck air cleaner is the ness big sucker on ebay- easternpc- under $125
there's your $400 stage 1
you will gain 7 to 10 horsepower, your exhaust will be louder- cooler- I dunno. You sit on a motor and it's going to be hot...thick jeans work better than anything else.

I would look for a used set of Power duals or Fuel Moto 2-1-2 and then buy a tuner such as a PCV or Vance & Hines FP3. I bought my pipe for $300 from a guy on the forum and they come up for sale regularly. You should be able to get what you need for around $600 depending on the tuner you choose and you can even find those used.
I started with slip-on, decatted pipe and vied/xied and it worked well. For the cost it was a noticable upgrade. Recently I added 255 cams and got the cobra duals for 360-380ish on eBay. I got a used PCV for 150.00 on the forum and used FM's base map for the 255's. Those pipes sound GREAT and the base map seems to work great as well. Down the road I'll get it dyno'd or get and auto tuner but for 150 and a base map it's running pretty damn hard. Point is you can be patient and shop around or wait for deals to come up. They always do.
