tuner
First and foremost, and this is the MOST important thing, you need to be realistic about your goals longterm for what you will or might do with the bike.
I had been away from bikes for a longtime when I came back in the last 2 years, and thought the power VS smile factor was enough for me. I got bored quick, a sportster turned into a bike with a 96 which turned into a bike with a 103, which I know am getting ready to add cams to, etc, etc.
I say this because IMHO, certain tuners with a canned map are fine for just a Stage 1, intake, exhaust, A/C, etc. However if you think there is any chance you might do anything else down the road I would say go talk to whoever will be doing your tuning, and see what they like. For a full professional dyne tune, I believe the competency of the person doing the work is more important than what system they use.
It would have saved me a ton of money to have listened to some of the guys who have been around here longer than I when I first came on.
Now, if you do not have a competent tuner in your area, or you know or think you will change parts a lot, then an auto tuner like the Rev Performance EMS will be a better choice.
I myself have been very pleased with Fuel Moto and their service, and with my bike for the Stage 1, but now I am stuck with a tuner (Power Vision) they provided in which no one else seems to even know exist, or work with, which traps me into pipes, cams, etc, that they have maps for. That might not be a bad thing, but it's like being stuck in a cell phone contract.
Just do your homework and see what works best for you.......
Just my $0.02
+1 FM are hard to beat.
I use nightrider.com XIEDS. $125 shipped and done.
IF I were to do cams, I would look first at thundermax- I read fewer questions and complaints about that system than others.
I was not willing to learn a whole new trade as a computer/bike programmer, and have no interest in adjusting cell values hoping for a good result- hence my choice.
which turned out to be the least expensive.
as mentioned above, you'd do best to start reading about the various systems and the pros and cons of operation, reliability and cost

Also good tuners are very hard to find no matter what system they use. I don't know of any good tuners in Minnesota. I use the TTS and it works great, but I had it tuned by Doc while I was down in Florida, that is a long way to go just for a tune.
The Xied's might be an option, although I don't know how well they work with true duals, but I don't think that should be a problem. Call Steve at Night Rider and ask him.
The Rev Performance EMS is costly and pretty new (new to me anyway) but I think if I had it to do all over again the Rev Performance is the way I would go, or at least I would look at it very closely before making a decision.
