Seems the nut on the inner fairing above the brake side has some cross threads. I don't know if it came that way from the dealer or happened when I put windshield bags on a few weeks back.
I discovered it as an issue when I was installing a new windshield this weekend and planning some modifications.
Anyone know how to replace this fitting so the outer fairing will fit snug?
I stopped by the local hardware store today and bought the replacement inserts. Then I asked my neighbor to bring over a tap to try and rethread the existing insert.
The tap worked perfectly and fixed the threads.
Now I have the knowledge gained here and some spare inserts for the future. Where I'm confident I will need them.
