speedodometer went out today
speedodometer went out today
on the way home today had a kind of sound from the front wheel that sounded like maybe a rock was stuck in the brake caliper then it quit and when I was slowing down for the red light the bike shut off, popped the clutch and it started back. when I stopped for the red light had to keep the throttle up to keep it from shutting off. Then I noticed my speed odometer was not working. went to engage my turn signal and it was not working either.
Continued this all the way home, about 20 miles. when I got home the bike did shut off. Open my shop up to put the bike inside and it cranked as if nothing had happen. throttle was working fine. but I noticed that the light on the speed odometer was not working, how ever the light on the tack ometer was still working.
by the way this is a 2003 Electra Glide classic!

check fuses
the acc fuse powers the speedo and tach
speedo drive is from a sensor in the tranny- not the front wheel
if you had road debris on teh front wheel, it could chew up the wiring for the fender light ( thus blowing a fuse)
