Yep my reasons too. my old swingarm was not cracked but was showning signs of wear around the axle area. Just from tire changes and wheel being removed a number of times.
I will probably take it to a local shop and have them handle the caliper. Probably won't take them 15 minutes. With a 1 hour minimum on shop labor lol
I think my FIL has a micrometer I can borrow to check existing tolerance with 3/4 axle. Then have the shop match those with the one inch axle. (As suggested earlier.
The 1" step bit picture doesn't quite fit in the 1" bearing so I think it might just be the right size for the caliper.... Hmmm? Mayby the step drill would track fairly straight... I've done stupider stuff in the past...

Throw that uni-bit as far as you can. IMO they are crap (from a machining standpoint)
For what you want to do, a uni-bit was not designed for.
Have your machinist buddy bore your caliper for you, it's a 15 minute job.
As others have stated, the hole must be true and have minimal slop. (ie. close fit)
Personally I would not use a common home-shop drill press for a job like this.

You may want to wait to get your caliper axle hole bored, the bearing spacers for your swingarm conversion will need to be pressed in.
Get your hours worth of of shop time.
