Speedo/Tacho
Well, I finally did it. After months of debate, I installed the nostalgic speeo/tacho combo on my 06 RK. Why the wait?? Well, you see, I have a high mileage RK (15379) and I realized that when I purchased the new speedo/tacho, I could give whatever mileage I wanted to the dealer, thereby transferring my RK from high mileage to low mileage. My dilemma was my conscience. I debated about it for months (admit it, so would you), but finally decided to be honest and ordered the new one with the accurate mileage on it. ONe of my riding buds think I was stupid for doing it, but I had to be honest. Besides, I don't plan on selling the RK anyway (it is my first Harley) so the high mileage doesn't matter. Anyway, the install was surprisingly easy, took me about 45 mins. The hardest part was keeping that rubber gasket that goes around the console in place while I secured the console to the tank. I love the tach..and all the idiot lights still work so I must have installed it correctly. Anyway, wanted to share that with you guys. Kinda proud I did the right thing. Be safe out there.

Ok your honest now. Who said that when you rack up another 50 to 80 thousand miles on it. You don't stick the old one with out the tach back into it and sell her then, with out mentioning the speedo/tach? You just rolled the clock back didn't you?
You did the right thing ms3300. Now you'll be able to put more miles on her with a clear conscience.
I'm think about putting the speedo/tach on my bike. It only has 2100 miles. Would you (or anyone who's done this)mind telling me what's involved?
Thanks,
Rich

So, my bike doesn't already have a tach on it. If I install this, will I then be able to see my rpm's? If so, that will be a purchase I make. I shift by feel, But always shift probally before I really hit the power curve. A tach would help me out. Let me know if this would do the trick.

Ram, your an evil man. I hadn't even THOUGHT about that, but since you mentioned it, hmmmmmm? The install was very easy, just followed the enclosed instructions.Take your time and be careful not to scratch your tank cause you have to lay the console on it's side, other than that pretty ez. yes, papaT, it shows your RPM's and can be used to shift, it is a nice addition. I didn't get the matching light, it has the same light as the factory one, but does appear brighter. I will say the odometer shows the mileage even when the bike is off, which is different from the factory install.
